Tri Clover & Tri Clamp

Tri clover fittings — also sold as tri clamp, tri-clamp or TC — are the sanitary standard on fermenters, kettles and still boilers: two flanged ferrules, a silicone seal between them, and a clamp that pulls the joint tight. No thread to strip, nothing to seize, and it comes apart for cleaning in seconds. Everything here is 304 stainless.

Which tri clamp size do I need?

Measure the flange — the flat lip the clamp grips — straight across, not the pipe bore. The nominal size is the pipe, so a "1.5 inch" fitting has a flange about 50 mm across, and that catches everyone once.

• 1.5 inch is the common home brewing size: the ports on 50 L and 100 L fermenters, thermo ports, carbonation stones, and barb and threaded adapters.
• 2 inch is the AlcoEngine still boiler lid and 2 inch reduced Kegmenters, plus mesh screens, thermo ports and the tapping head for commercial kegs.
• 4 inch ferrules and mesh seals suit larger vessel openings.
• 8 inch: we carry the clamp only, so measure the flange on your vessel before you order.

Is tri clamp the same as tri clover?

Yes. Tri-Clover was the original manufacturer's name and it stuck; tri clamp and TC are the same fitting, and parts from different makers fit together as long as they are the same size. A joint needs a clamp and a seal in that size plus the ferrule or fitting on each side. Beaded seals suit most ports; the flat seal is for the AlcoEngine boiler lid and reduced Kegmenters.
